I was in Italy just this past week, and I encountered the most wonderful sweet desert. It's called Cassata Siciliana, a small cake topped with sweet ricotta and then sealed in thick, hard suger glaze.

It's one of the best things I've tasted, and now that I'm back in LA, I'd really like to find a good Italian bakery that offers this little gem.

Any suggestions on where to start? Italy seems underrepresented as far as bakeries in LA... mostly pizza and pasta joints.

So if anyone has any recommendations on traditional Italian bakeries in Los Angeles, I'd be very thankful indeed.
