Who shall be the Carl Chu of Mexican food?

Well this probably already exists, but it just occured to me that I have and enjoy a very good beginner's primer on Chinese food in LA County but don't have anything at all to tell me the difference between Oaxacan, norteno, etc. Mexican food is one of our strengths and I figure my food library should reflect that. Is there such a guide?
