New Canton (again) and Royal Hong King Lum, Sacto.

Went to Best of Broadway this last weekend with a bunch of friends from the Bay Area (BTW, if you have not been, go. Tickets are plentiful. It's amateurs, but very good amateurs.). We started at Royal Hong King Lum, on J Street across from the Downtown mall.

We have been going here for a number of years. It's just great for noodle, rice and congee dishes. We've been to dinner twice, and they are very good. I want to sing the praises for this steady, if unspectacular place. They have a very extensive Chinese lunch menu. I don't know if this is available in English also. The prices are extremely reasonable.

For early dinner before the show, we went to New Canton, again. We just ordered one of the set dinner, plus a couple of additional dishes (deep fried frog legs with salty egg yolk was one). Their quality has gone down a little, a little rough on the edges. But still excellent value and one of better Chinese restaurants in Sacto. One advice to the restaurant if anyone from there is reading this: take out the dead fishes from the tank, please.

Dim sum, yet again New Canton. Still the best dim sum place in Sacto. We ended up at $9.00 per person. The trick is to stay away from the special plates.
