We thought we'd give Canlis another try since we had a $100 gift certificate that was about to expire. We took my folks and family there a couple of years ago for their 30th Anniversary. Had a beautiful table, excellent service, ok food.

Our experience last weekend was basically the same. We had a wonderful table with outstanding view, two servers, and ok food.

My husband ordered the chef's tasting menu with the flight of wines ($95):

Nettle soup with straw potatoes (delicious)

Alaska King Crab Leg with early asparagus (dry, overcooked)

Cedar Bough Sorbet (very good)

Wasyugya Tenderloin (edible but burnt tasting)

Wildflower Honey Mousse in a meringue beehive with chocolate honey comb (10% mousse 90% meringue - nothing notable)

I ordered:

Canlis Chowder (excellent)
Petrale Sole (excellent)
Exotic Mushroom Saute (as a huge fan of all mushrooms, something just didn't taste right with this dish - it is finished with Madeira)
Rhubarb Crisp with Ginger Ice Cream (very good)

For roughly $100 pp (I had one drink with my dinner) I felt it was too pricey for the quality of food received.
