Just recently I had the pleasure of dining with friends at Candelas in the gaslamp district of San Diego. I must say it was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. First of all, the service was truly outstanding. Our waiter Gerard was exceptional; our appetizers were split tableside so we could share them. He made very informed menu and wine recommendations, was attentive but not intrusive and was professional but not stuffy.
The food was tremendous as well. Courses were timed perfectly, appetizers to salads to entrees.
Portion sizes were right on the mark; presentation was excellent.
Also, the restaurant is a few blocks over from the noisy (and annnoying) center of the gaslamp district, and has a nice outdoor patio as well.
I can't say enough. If anyone would like more info, just ask, and I'll be glad to give more details about this fantastic experience.
ps: don't let the picture on the website fool you. It is MUCH nicer than that picture shows.
