Cambridge eating plan feedback, please

I have 2 nights in Cambridge next week and am thinking of eating at Alimentum the first night and walking to Grantchester for tea at The Orchard Tea Garden next day. (I'm assuming that will suffice for a main meal...)

The reason I'm posting is that I wonder if Alimentum is the best use of a meal in Cambridge? It's a type of restaurant that I love, but even though it might be the best of its kind in Cambridge, is there another restaurant that is a great restaurant, period? Another way to ask would be, is there any restaurant in Cambridge serving something unique, either by its quality, location or inventiveness?

And if I do need more food later in the day after The Orchard, are there any recommendations for a light meal near the Hotel du VIn?

Finally, is there any food sightseeing I can do in or near town (I won't have a car)? This can be anything like a great fresh market, or a museum dedicated to a local food, or a festival...

Thank you so much for any help!

(PS - for background, I'm American, traveling solo and am in London for 4 more months, so I can skip anything in Cambridge that duplicates something I can get in London.)
