CALLING ALL CHOWHOUNDERS!
There are plenty of active Houston members, and I would love to meet all of you! The first Houston Chowhound outing was great, as we got to try new food and share tips, tricks and opinions about food in Houston. Of course, all Chowhounders in the state are very welcome as well!
The second Houston Chowhounders outing will take place at A Taste of Portugal on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. Chef and owner Jorge Fife will be serving a specially prepared "chef's selection" dinner, including a wide range of appetizers and entrees reflecting the rich and diverse heritage of Portugese cuisine. I have requested that he include bacalhau, piri piri and my favorite, flaming chorizo. Jorge will charge a flat rate of $20 per person, which will include drinks, appetizers, mains, etc. Jorge is as marvelous a host as he is a cook, and everyone should have a great time. I hope we can see some out-of-town chowhounders come in as well!
I WILL BE CALLING IN TO JORGE WITH A HEAD COUNT NO LATER THAN TOMORROW, SO PLEASE RSVP TO ME ASAP! My email is email@example.com
Jorge wanted me to mention that everyone is welcome to bring your own wine or other libations, and that he has no "corking" fee.
A Taste of Portugal is located at 11650A Jones Road, in northwest Houston (about a mile or so north of 1960). Their phone number is (281) 469-8691. If you want to review the menu and learn a little bit more about the place, click the link below.
I have been requested by Chowhound management to ask that you not reply to this post for organizing the outing, but please feel free to contact me via email for questions or to RSVP.
Hope to see you there!
