A few years ago I was at a calçotada in Valls, Catalonia. At a calçotada, the first course consists of spring onions (calçots) grilled on ceramic roof tiles and eaten dipped in salvitxada sauce (similar to romesco), accompanied by lots of wine. The second course consists of grilled meats including various sausages, also with lots and lots of wine. I thought the calçotada was great food and great fun and I was wondering if there is anything like that in Chicago but my searches have come up empty. Anyone know anything about this? Any info would be much appreciated.
