Caipirinha - the national drink of Brazil

I was just introduced to this drink in the last week and all I can say is that I'm thinking of moving to Brazil.

The version I had was made with picu and here's the recipe:

Ingredients:
· 7 whole fresh limes
· 100 g cane sugar
· 375 ml PITÚ

Mixing instructions:
Squeeze 6 limes into a glass, mix the sugar with the juice, and allow it to stand for twelve hours, stirring occasionally, and then top up the glass with PITÚ.
Peel the other lime and steep the peel in the resultant liqueur overnight. Take the peel out of the liqueur and pour the liqueur into a bottle.

However, searching around the web it seems there are many versions made with different liquors and the drink can be both hot or cold. Mine was in a lovely glass of crushed ice. Refreshing. Can anyone give me more insight on this drink. Here's another link I found on the web.
