Cafe Thyme - Bucktown

This Friday evening, we decided to give Cafe Thyme a try and it was a great decision. We had a very good meal and the price/quality relationship was just right. The menu is simple and every item we had was well prepared and elegant in its simplicity. We started by sharing a plate of crab cakes which were excellent and left me wishing I had ordered a whole plate to myself. For my main course, I had the house ravioli filled with goat cheese and mushrooms. When I asked for details about the make-up of the sauce that came with it, expressing concerns about my allergies, the waitress came back from the kitchen with a recommendation from the chef to substitute it for a great roasted tomato sauce that went very well with the goat cheese. I love flexible chefs! My fiance had a nicely prepared salmon and two inexpensive and decent wines by the glass. For dessert, flan and apple crisp, again both very good. This is definitely going to become one of our regular neighborhood bistros.
