M Cafe review (healthy food on Melrose)

We finally checked out M Cafe today after a co-worker had been raving about it. I've been trying to eat very light lately, so it was the perfect place. It's owned by the Chaya people and everything is all natural and organic, although that doesn't necessarily mean low-calorie, of course. Our friend had recommended the ahi burger and seitan sandwich, but it's so hot today that we went with salads. I had the quinoa salad and the seafood pasta salad, and my friend had the millet salad with some brown rice sushi rolls. The place is artfully designed with lovely presentations and some pretty tempting looking desserts, although some are upwards of $5.00. The millet salad was especially good, with chunks of roasted squash and garbanzo beans. There are some great bento boxes that you can grab for a quick lunch or picnic, with tofu, seitan or salmon ($11.95). There are a few tables inside but they were all full so we broiled outside on the sidewalk. My impression is that the food is pretty flavorful for healthy stuff, and everything looks very appealing.
