Cafe Boulud RW review (long)

Went to Cafe Boulud for lunch yesterday and I think it was the best RW experiance I have had.

The service could not be nicer and although the dinning room was full, my friend and I were seated immediatly outside where we were happy to people watch. (We could not understand why people were waiting to sit inside when it was such a beautiful day out). We were searved bread right away which was great, and I could not believe the choices that were offered for RW. Instead of the usual two or three options per course, there were four, any of which I would have been happy with.

I chose a cucumber gazpacho with smoked salmon, and my friend had the fluke carpacio searved with avacodo. They were both wonderful escpecially the carpacio. Neither of us tried the grilled calamari salad or the asparagus, but our neigbors said they were great. For the mane couse I had duck breast and sasage searved in a cherry sauce over wild rice and a green which I forgot. My friend had pasley crusted cod with eggplant. Again both dishes were excellent. There was also a pasta and a shellfish dish that both sounded great. There were only two options for dessert, but my rasberry dish was very good as was my friend's hazelnut moose cake.

All of that for $20 (plus tax, tip and drinks)was an amayzing deal. Unlike some resataurants where you feel you are getting second class food and service during RW or you wonder what all the fuss is about becuase it isn't much if a deal (or some places that are both) the whole experiance felt very special. To be able to go to such a classey french restauant and have sunch an ejoyible expeiance there was great.
