Hi - I'm a newcomer. On searching this site I see that this topic has come up in the past - but on threads that are too old to add new posts
Put simply - I'm a fan of the Bresse chicken - having eaten them in France. I understand there is an American derivative breed - which for legal reasons has to be called "American Bresse"
(The name "Bresse" alone is reserved just for authentic French poultry. It's a legal matter - same as "Champagne" being an official label")
The American Bresse started being bred in the USA circa 2011. I see several places online that will sell the live baby chicks. But I have not found any retailers, distributors or online businesses that are selling the processed bird - ready to cook.
I have seen a bird claimed to be similar - styled as "Poulet Rouge". I don't know how close in breed or taste that is to the "American Bresse". I do know that the shipping cost within the USA of that "Poulet Rouge" was greater than the cost of the chicken! Which would make it an uber-pricey bird!
So - any ideas where I can buy an American Bresse chicken - ready to cook. Los Angeles or Southern California area would be a bonus. But anywhere in the USA would be a start...
