In the pie crust topic on home cooking there was a mention that leaf lard doesn't have the porky taste to it. Some pie fillings doen't work with the eau de pork in the crust.
Would anyone sell that in the Bay Area? Boulette's Larder? Anyone seen it there? Is that how I would ask for it?
Or is this something I'd need to buy my own pig to make ... yeah, I'm getting carried away here. I get sucked in. I work my way up from maybe frozen pie crust to making it myself and the thought of even making my own lard ... buying or raising a pig for it ...
Seriously, can I get leaf lard pre-made anywhere? Is that how I'd ask for it? Would they know what I was talking about?
