Buttercup Bakeshop

I went by after visiting zip burger today and got a few cupcakes for the weekend. I haven't been there for about three years but had fond memories of creamy, buttercream icing but they were destroyed today. One might use the excuse they made too many on a summer Friday but it takes days for a cake to get as dry and icing to get as hard as it was on the lemon cupcake. The red velvet which I always liked was HORRIBLE. I feel bad knocking someone's business but someone's not keeping an eye on quality. The classic red velvet icing is one of my favs and it was hard and tasted more like buttercream than the recipe in their cookbook which I use as a standard for most of my own cakes.

I knew something was wrong when I first opened the boxed. I has dropped it and was sure there would be a mess but everything was in tact. The icing actually looked like it was shelacked on the cake.

Happy cupcake hunting.
