Has anyone heard of Mandalay Palace? It's a Burmese place on Broome between Mott and Mulberry (next door to Umberto's clam house) It's always empty, but the food is some of my favorite in the city. I'm guessing that as it's sandwiched between Little Italy and Chinatown, it's off the radar for what is a touristy area. They're green curry chicken with bamboo(?) and coconut rice is one of my fav's. Also, the apetizers--rice and noodle dishes, skewers of chicken, thousand layer pancake--are all great. Everyone I've brought there thinks it's great but after 4 years of loyal patronage, I still haven't managed to bring it the citywide acclaim it deserves.
