We were up in the Berkshires/Litchfield area today doing some leaf peeping and were looking for a lunch spot. Noticed a new place behind Pastorale in Lakeville called Burgers & Frites. It's apparently a Dutch chain. Interesting. Kind of like a 5 Guys or the Bistro Box. Order at the counter, pick-up around the corner. Burgers were 4 oz, 1 order of frites was good for the 2 of us, and soft drinks only. Beer would have been nice. We ordered cheeseburgers with cheddar, mayo, pickles, and red onion. The cheddar was weird, not sure what it was -- maybe a Dutch cheddar or a funky mayo. The pickle slices were big and cold -- we didn't enjoy biting into a burger with such a cold dimension to it. Onions were okay and the burger itself was good. The frites were excellent! Twice fried and they offered malt vinegar as a condiment. Speaking of condiments, it would be more efficient if S&P were on the tables. They've been open for less than 2 months, so they're working up the learning curve. But all in all, pretty good if you know what to order. Lunch was $26 for 2 burgers, 1 order of fries, 2 Diet Cokes, and a side of ranch for dipping the frites (definitely not worth it!!!). No service so no tipping. We'd go back at least once and leave off the mayo and the pickles on our burgers.
