Burbs, across the lake, or further worth the trip?

Peter | Feb 2, 2003 01:58 PM

Friends are coming to town from NY next weekend. We are going to Peristyle Friday night, and I was considering Camelia Grill for Sunday brunch, but am open to suggestions. They have come for conventions in the past, and have thus already been to Galatoire's, Commander's, The Grill Room, etc., so I don't feel the need to take them to traditional places necessarily.

We are going to Peristyle Friday night, but I still am not sure where to go Saturrday. I have already been to Stella! (wonderful) and Bayona (disappointing) but have a whole list of possible other places (Upperline, Brigsten's, Clancy's, Cuvee, Dick & Jenny's, Martinique Bistro, Mr. B's, Pelican Club). I am curious if any of the places in the burbs(Drago, La Riviera, La Parvenu) or across the lake (Artesia, The Dakota, La Provence), or farther (Lafitte's Landing, or Mosca's) are worth considering as well, or if dining quality falls off precipitously when you get outside of the city proper, as it did back home in New York.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
