After all the hype and talk I went to Bufalina on Sunday night. First the place was packed but there was lots of parking. If you want proof the East side is becoming gentrified this is it. The hipster restaurant was packed to the gills and it appeared most of of the people walked there. The crowd outside the place was so thick I gave up all hope of eating inside so we ordered take out from a guy who looked like Burt from Burt's Bees. He did not give me my change back.
We got two pizza's the brussel sprouts and the margarita pizza. We sampled a slice before driving home, so we could say we ate it hot.The ham on the brussel sprouts pizza was really good. Aside from that the flavors weren't particularly bold although I did enjoy the smoke from the oven and the pizza was cooked but not burned as I often find is the case with pizza cooked in wood ovens.
Honestly to me this place doesn't live up to the hype. It's obvious they care about the food and are using good ingredients but it's just not good enough to justify the cost or trouble. If I had out of towers I wanted to impress I'd still take them to Via 313 over this place.
