Buenos Aires Argentinian Grill - Northridge

I've been seeing this place for year in the Target shopping center on Corbin and Nordhoff. It always looked busy, but we just never got a chance to try it. Finally, last night, we were in the area and hungry, so I suggested to my husband that we try it.

The menu consists of mainly grilled meats (it is an argentinian restaurant, after all), but also has several items like chicken piccata, milanesa pollo and carne, sandwiches and several pastas. There are 6-8 appetizers, including empanadas, which we didn't try but seemed like a bargain at $1.80 each. We ordered the patilla Argentina, which is a mixed grill for 2 people consisting of grilled skirt steak, short ribs, and lamp chops. It comes with your choice of side, and you can choose from mashed potatoes, french fries, garlic parley fries, rice, salad, tomatoes, and a couple other items. We went with the garlic parsley fries.

We were brought bread and chimichurri, which was delicious. The chimichurri had a lot of flavor, and had a good parsley to oil ratio. They brought us refills without us having to ask, which was nice.

When our meal arrived, we were very impressed! We got a little coal heated mini grill with our meats on top, with our huge order of garlic fries served separately. The fries were covered in a wonderful fresh garlic, parsley and cheese topping -- heavenly! I could eat those alone for dinner! The meats were excellent, albeit a little underdone for my taste, but I just put them back on the grill for a few minutes to continue cooking. The meats were well seasoned, and very flavorful, and adding chimichurri to them made them even better! And the portions were huge -- we could have easily have fed 4 people with the amount of food we had! There were 4 lamb chops, 3 cross cut short ribs (about 8 inches long each), and 2 good sized pieces of skirt steak. We couldn't finish it all and ended up bringing it home for another meal.

Overall, we really enjoyed this place. Service was a bit spotty towards the end, but that was probably due to the 2 large parties that came in towards the end of or meal. I could have used another drink refill, and we had to ask for the bill and takeout boxes after 10 minutes of sitting there. Our bill, with iced tea and soda came to $45 with tax, which was a good deal in my eyes for what we got. We will definitely go back again.
