Obviously there are some omissions but I think every city/region has some hometown hero that they're rooting for. It's nice to see price taken into consideration and to see that Guy Savoy has already been ranked but places like Cochon, Michael's Genuine, and Ubuntu are still in the running for #1.
I like Michael's Genuine and I'm glad they're still in the running. Though it is one of the best "real" restaurants in Miami, I don't know how well it'd do in SF. I think Bar Tartine in SF is just as good.
My prediction for #1? Either Ubuntu or Cochon. I haven't tried Ubuntu but it's supposedly taming legions of carnivores. I loved Cochon and their practice of breaking down their own hog and using every part of the pig. The crispy pig ear salad was delicious and their jowl pastrami sandwich special was one of the best sandwiches I've had to date. It'll also make for a good story line. Vegetarian vs Pork.
