Among other reasons to love this place, the B-Side Lounge serves Sunday brunch until 4pm. It's a little odd to be inside with bright sunshine filtering through the windows, but we slide into a booth and tuck into eye-openers (okay, it is 2:30pm): excellent Bloodies, and a Greyhound made with fresh grapefruit juice, wow!
Nice mix of lunch and breakfast items. We opt for a breakfast steak fajita (a huge pile of grilled steak, onions, and bell peppers, topped with what looks like four scrambled eggs, wheat tortillas on the side); fishcakes (surrounding a good green salad, three small cakes, a little less fishful than I like, no threat to Union's brunch fishcake supremacy) with a side of beans and rice (I wanted just beans, but this is not the answer, as it's 95% rice); a meatloaf sandwich (thick, outstanding, and served on a beautiful egg-glazed bun); an utterly superfluous side of decent homefries.
As always, cool music and friendly if somewhat scattered service. Coffee and another round brings the check to about $75 inclusive. Next stop: Christina's! A very happy, if not a very healthy, Sunday afternoon.
