brunch and dinner recommendation needed

Hi! I hope some of you can help. I have two requests. First is a place for dinner in Sylmar. Good food at a good price. My Mom is coming to visit and we are going to dinner with her Aunt on May 4. It can be near Sylmar but not too far. I don't want to end up at Denny's but we're not looking for fine dining either.
The second request is a place for Mother's Day brunch. There will be a large group of us, possibly 15. It's my understanding that we may wind up at The Odyssey in Granada Hills. The last time I was there the food wasn't good and when I called to check the price it is $32.95 per person. We really don't want to shell out that much money (a lot for us at least) on food that sucks. I'd like to be able to make a recommendation to my Mom's side of the family for a place to go for Mother's Day Brunch in the San Fernando Valley where the food will hopefully be good and not a rip off. Maybe I'm hoping for too much? A per person type of pricing is best though since figuring out the bill will be near to impossible and some people eat and drink a lot.
