Samurai Sam's Teriyaki Grill opened today at 115 Court Street, in the storefront vacated last year by Ichiban's sushi place. They're handing out fliers in front with 10% discount coupons. According to the flier, the menu consists of teriyaki bowls (with rice) and wraps, Yaki Soba bowls (with noodles), salads, and combo meals, with soda and tea as the beverages. Top price is 7.49, most items are $2-3 cheaper. Samurai Sam's is a franchising fast food chain based in Arizona. Doesn't seem like a good cultural fit either for the Heights or for the movie house across the street.

145 Atlantic Ave. has been vacant for a long time, with a notice in the window that Tazza (a wine bar) was coming and a notice pasted over that with a court order barring any construction in the site without further approval. Now all this has been taken down and if you look hard, you can find a small grungy notice that Soju Pan Asian is coming. But there was no work actually being done inside when I went past, and it looks pretty iffy to me.
