Brookline Spa, Tapeo

Can't wait for Real Deal to come to JP if my "Furio" sandwich from the Brookline Spa the other day is any indication (the Spa is related to Real Deal in West Rox for those who don't know). This is one of the grilled focaccia sandwiches (I usually get Carmella Soprano w/ eggplant and veggies) w/ great grilled chicken, mozzarella, tomato and spinach w/ pesto mayo. It wa a little heavy on themayo but the rest was perfect and HUGE for only $5.75. Such a deal.

Had every intention of eating at Sonsie last nite for more than once a year, but the 20 movie trucks and filming nixed that, I guess Matthew Mc. and whoever were filming in the restaurant. We ended up at Tapeo for only my 2nd time. It was fine but I wasn't overly thrilled with it this time either. Decent bread with a spread of maybe chick peas or something, not sure. We got a good grilled pork sausage with figs, which was one sausage cut in half and one measly fig. Cauliflower/broccoli friters were good, scallops were recommended but they were small scallops cut in half floating in saffron sauce. Got a dish of the potato w/ garlic mayo and capers and that was good, kind of like the most garlicky potato salad you've ever had. My pomengranite martini tasted like something else and the more I think about it, I wonder if I got the wrong drink or really missed some description. Much sweeter and more citrusy than you'd think. I felt like I was being corrected every time I ordered the English description or tried to pronounce the Spanish but she was fine otherwise. With a couple Stellas and tax, it came to $49 but I'd keep Toro #1 for tapas.
