So I have been marveling over the reine de saba in the julie and julia movie since it came out. And this year for my boyfriends birthday I decided to make it. Useing this recipe http://mumziespumpkinpatch.blogspot.c... but what happened after I followed the directions to a t? As I went to flip the cake over whose top looked dry and I had been worrying that the cake would taste gross and dry. The cake fell to peices the outside dryer then nevada and the inside as wet as the batter when I put it in the oven. Now I have a pile of delicious crumbles mixed with goup the I have no hope of salvaging let alone frosting and serving to my boyfriend and his family ( who think I'm the best baker in the world ). I have never had a recipe fail on me ever! I can make soufle's fine and hollendaise sauce easily but this reine de saba didn't work. So what I've got to know is what in the wide world happened? What caused my failure or what could cause such a catastrophy? I'm not going to try this recipe again right now because it was hard work. My boyfriend said it's ok and we'll just buy a cake this year but I still gotta know what went wrong.
