Hello CH brethren-
The wife and will both be in LA for our jobs (great timing) in mid January. We have a free Saturday night set aside for a dinner together. We're saying in N Hollywood near Universal, but we'll have a rental car and will be mobile.
I'm looking for some recommendations, but I can't narrow it much as we like most cuisines, are fairly adventurous, and consider ourselves "foodies": we have often driven well out of our way to eat at someplace special/fun/unique. We have been known to drive 2 hours out of the way just to get to a restaurant on our list. We spend a lot of time in east coast cities (Boston/NY/Philly/DC), have traveled Europe extensively, and always look for dining experiences that are special wherever we are. So it really is a blank canvas in terms of what we would be interested in. Here's a few bullet points about us:
-We're based in Boston, so we're looking for something more "Californian" or "west coast"
-We like all cuisines and are not afraid of spice
-We are wine oriented and enjoy cocktails. Not big into beer
-Less inclned to like the suit & tie, ultra fancy/stuffy/pretentious places. We gravitate more to european/funky/eclectic atmospheres
-We lik the total "experience": food, surroundings, service, selection.
-We'd like it be memorable.
Sorry to be so open and broad, but what are the places you'd take friends to if they were in LA for one nightand you wanted to show off?
Thanks in advance.
