In December I stopped by Bright Bear Bakery on the eastside of Petaluma on my way north. Known for its "cronut", $4, I tried one iced with chocolate and blackberry. I also grabbed a sesame bagel, $3, for later.

Though pretty, the cronut did not quite do it for me. The bagel, however, warmed up for lunch at home was more interesting. As one would imagine from the appearance, that puffball of a bagel was pretty soft. Even after split and toasted. But this did have an attractive chew (yes, these are par-boiled) and good flavor from the wild yeast fermentation. Made for a nice couple of open-face tartines slathered with Snofrisk dill and Nova lox.
