I see a few very old CH posts mentioning the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival. Information from bloggers that I have found looks generally positive, but not without complaints. Is it worth a trip? This would not be a side-trip from New Orleans but rather a dedicated trip for the festival and the crawfish season in general. We LOVED Lafayette and Breaux Bridge as first-time visitors last year, but it was not crawfish season, and I feel we missed out. We love crawfish.
Assuming the consensus is that it's worth a trip, are there any tips you can think of? Are we likely to get bored after a single day? We might like listening to Cajun bands for an hour or two, but I can't imagine sitting in a camping chair there all day as some apparently do. Should we plan something else to do, not necessarily food related? Maybe one of those swamp tours? Last time we checked out the Lake Martin bird sanctuary, but alas, it wasn't bird season either. Still, that's more our speed than learning Cajun dancing.
