Breakfast at Radish (SF)

Had breakfast at this new-ish Mission spot yesterday, having forgotten it opened several weeks ago. I don't see any other reports so I thought I'd throw this out there -- I was pleasantly surprised. My breakfast tacos were delicious, with chunks of tender steak tucked into fluffy scrambled eggs with plenty of fresh avocado. There was some nice, seriously hot salsa & peppers on the side which provided a sharp bite.

But what got my attention was the side of potatoes -- not hash browns, not home fries...something really different. Very crispy outside, pillowy soft inside...these things were seriously fantastic (I normally hate home fries, or any fried potato chunks that aren't french fries). The only thing I can come up with to compare them to is Spork's "smashed fries"...but I think these are better.

They serve Mr. Espresso coffee which I don't usually like, but I didn't mind here. I should note when we walked in, only one table was occupied but we were greeted with "Do you have a reservation this morning?" When we said no, he offered to seat us at the bar, which was fine. We were there for nearly an hour and no more than two tables came in after. It seemed a little off-putting to not seat us at a table, but didn't bother us too much. But one couple were seated at the bar and then left a few minutes later in a huff.
