The fifth and final day of my June 2017 visit to Ensenada kicked off with the bountiful breakfast buffet at my hotel. I'd actually wanted to order ala carte for a quick meal poolside. But my server advised that such an order would take at least 30 minutes to reach my table and suggested that the buffet would ensure a quicker getaway.
The buffet offers an almost overwhelming variety of items, including made-to-order omelets and a carving station. Quality varied on my selections with the low point being a dried-out, stiff tamale. Chilaquiles were crisp and fresh, and I enjoyed the rajas con crema. Birria de res was stringy and tough. If I'd had time for a second pass, I'd probably have more highlights to report.
