Found myself in Braintree for a dr. appt. and thought I'd give Hilltop a shot for the first time in 12 years or so. Had never been to this location, enjoyed the big dark comfortable booths which reminded me of places I went to with my parents. As far as the food goes, it wasn't bad. I was torn between the steak & cheese w/ fries or steak tips w/ two sides and a drink ($6.95 and 9.95), went with the latter. One tip out of the half I ate was unchewable but overall, it was fine and medium as requested. I hated the way they served it tho with a ton of tips on one medium-small plate, mashed potatos in a little dish, cole slaw in a dish (after they brought corn by mistake) and the onions and mushrooms I requested (that I saw advertised with the chopped sirloin, no charge) in yet another dish. Cole slaw was prety basic, mashed were super mashed, onions and mushrooms were a nice addition. Since I ate just half the meal, figured I'd splurge on dessert. Should have gone with the homecooked grapenut pudding cuz the turtle cheesecake was very rich and put me over the top ($3.95). Okay but don't think they needed all those sauces and whipped cream on it. The waiter fluxuated from being super friendly to seeming like he wished I wasn't there. Overall, it was fine, I would have felt better if I'd paid a dollar or two less, but those big old fashioned places hit the spot every so often.
