Had anniversary dinner at Bouley tonite. Overall a pretty disappointing experience. Ill start by saying the place is beautiful and comfortable. The service is very attentive if not a little slow. The food though was disappointing overall. We had the tasting menu:
tuna tartare-was so non-descript and without taste that if you were blindfolded, you would have no idea what you were eating
black sea bass with risotto-fish ok but risotto milky and too rich
lobster-was drowned in marinated fruit...some may like this but we both found it tough and just wrong
sorbet and chocolate souflee both great although one sorbet tasted like curdled milk
only thing worth mentioning from husbands meal is the kobe beef (which i believe someone bad-mouthed on this board)...was tough, bland and no better than a cut (sigh) from the supermarket
average bottle of wine and a $360 tab for 2 means not again!!!
