Bouchon Bakery is back

Whatever they did while they were closed, it must have been in the back room. The only change I saw was the direction of the line. It was very Keller. Now the line snakes down the sidewalk and is more obvious. As always the wait seems like the foodie version of a Disneyland ride.

There are few things, IMO, that Bouchon does well. I like the donuts. They didn't have any yesterday.

Major thumbs up for the bacon scone. It was seriously one of the best savory scones I've ever had, generously studded with quality bacon and hints of maple.

Except for the sheeps yogurt bread, the merguez sandwich was unremarkable and at $8 overpriced for too little food. It did remind me of France however ... those overpriced baguettes with barely any filling.

The chocolate cherry scone my friend bought was overbaked and near the hardness of a biscotti. Not good.

She had the same opinion of the croissant and cheese pastry that I had ... the stuff looks beautiful but doesn't have much flavor.

IMO, just not worth a wait on line.
