It's been more than 20 years since I left Boston for the Midwest, and three things I continually jones for are a.) egg rolls, b.) lobster sauce and c.) chicken wings. There seems to be no other place on the planet where these things are quite the same as in the Hub. Outside Boston, the egg rolls all taste like they come from a pack or frozen La Choy, the lobster sauce is white with veggies and the wings are all battered like mediocre Col. Sanders'. I don't have much of a point to make here, I'm just being nostalgic and it's going to be a toss-up as to whether I make a beeline straight for Chinese or Kelly's at Revere Beach the next time we fly into town...which had darned well better be soon!
