Boston report

Well me and the family are back in Sweden after a wonderful trip to Boston. We hardly noticed the DNC since we were in Cambridge with a great landlord and neighborhood. We could not get very chowy with the kids but here is a report.

Best of trip. Full Moon Cafe in Cambridge. This was walking distance from our house rental. We went three times and all 3 times we had a great time and food. The restaurant has a play area for kids with trains and books and stuff like that. The noise level gets very high but you do not have to worry about your kids making noise and they usually serve the kids fast so they can go play while you eat and relax. The Moroccan chicken was a big favorite and the cod stew was wonderful and big enough to feed 3. We had daily specials every time and they we all great, especially a tuna steak with goat cheese and greens.

Kids food must have been good because it was eaten up quickly, especially the chicken tenders. Only down side was that they only had 6 different wines, 3 white and 3 red. That could be easily upgraded. Strong recommendation for anyone with kids 8 or under that wants to avoid chains that all seem to have the same menu and are in really not kid friendly because the kids stay at the table and make you rush to eat your food.

Other winner, also a short walk from the house, was the High Rise Bakery. Great sandwiches especially those with pulled pork. They are big, often a half is enough. Baked goods and bread are also tremendous, especially the lemon curd cake and blueberry scones. And the atmosphere is wonderful. Tried several bottles of wine that they sell for back home consumption and all were very good. It a place like this was within walking distance of my house in Sweden I would weigh 250 pounds.

Had a very good take away from the Elephant Walk with very fresh spring roles and raw tuna with avocado. Main courses were not at the same level, especially a chicken dish Cambodian style. And take those warnings about raw fish serious in the warm humid weather. Me and my wife both had gastrointestinal problems in the middle of the night (side note, if someone got really ill because of the food would that note on the menu really protect the restaurant in court, especially if the restaurant had done something wrong?)

See the ice cream thread a few below this one for my comments on ice cream.

Chinese take away from Zoe's was not as good as we had hoped. Maybe because got "standard" things like sweet and sour chicken so the kids would eat. But still we had hoped for more. Same for East Coast Grill. The take away menu was limited and both the ribs and pulled pork were quite dry, but tasty.

Got reasonable pizza delivered by Bertucci's a few times.

Take away grilled chicken from the Whole Foods Market grocery store was very good indeed, as was the grocery store as a whole.

Thanks to everyone for their recommendations. Wish we had had a chance to try more.
