The October 1, 2013 edition of Booklist has a special section on recent food related books. Many of them are cookbooks but there are also histories, memoirs, etc. Most interesting to me are "Candy: A Century of Panic and Pleasure" by Samira Kawash and "Ivan Ramen: Love. Obsession and Recipes from Tokyo's Most Unlikely Noodle Joint." Check it out at your local library or newstand.
