Book or Website on US Road Food Meccas

I know these types of places exist ... a little shack in the middle of nowhere that serves cheeseburgers to 1,000 people a day ... a cafe where 95% of all customers come for the split pea soup, or the blueberry pie, or the french dip sandwich. They can be in big cities but preferably in little towns on unimportant roads where everyone who knows stops on the way.

I am driving across country, in a lazy manner on 2-lane highways, and I want to eat at these types of places, in fact I want to plan the whole wandering journey around them, but I've never seen a book (or website) that does a really good job collecting them all in one place. Any ideas?
