bonnie's beef on weck: steer clear

I'd heard a lot of positive things about Bonnie's burger, the wings, and the beef on weck. Truth be told, I'd never actually had beef on weck before, but I might as well have because I have reasearched the thing extensively (just wrote something about the legendary sandwich at the legendary Scwabl's in Buffalo for a travel website). Friends who'd been there said it was mind-blowingly good. Anyway, when I read on these boards that Bonnie's did a version and that people had good things to say about it...I was intrigued.

Needless to say, it was not what we had hoped. Cold, dry, and too-thickly sliced beef on a stale tasting bun. No jus to bind it all together. Fortunately, a friend and I had decided to split that and the burger so no one starved. Unfortunately, this was the friend who'd had the real thing and I felt as thought I'd lead her astray.

I noticed that there aren't any current posts about it. Is this the case of a (serious) downhill slide? Was it ever good?

I should say that the burger was quite delicious and the wings were outstanding and I will be back for those. (Just be sure to order your burger unspiced or it will taste like cumin).
