Boneyard Bistro Review

Shmoolie | Jan 15, 200609:48 PM

We've had reservations at the Boneyard Bistro for a few weeks and finally went tonight and I've read many of the reviews posted here so I feel like I should post my own:

The restaurant is exactly like it has been portrayed here: smallish, nice decor, and loud. We got the booth in the back as we had 5 of us. Seating was comfortable.

We went there to try the BBQ so we ordered combo platters of babyback ribs, beef ribs, and spareribs, along with the fried mac and cheese, bbq beans and cole slaw. We started out with the warm spicy Thai calamari salad. This was good and tasty. The corn fritters were good but nothing special.

The spareribs were good. Lots of meat. Definitely needed BBQ sauce. I didn't try the baby back ribs but the others said they were also good and needed the sauce. The beef ribs were really good. Nice spices and didn't need sauce. I was quite satisfied with those.

The BBQ sauce left something to be desired. For my taste it was too sweet. I could really taste the molasses. I was hoping for something with some more kick.

The BBQ beans were delicious. The fried mac and cheese was bland. Not at all what I was hoping for. The cole slaw was inedible. I know some people have different tastes for slaw but this was mayonnaisey.

The service was good. Our waitress was friendly and nice. The one thing bad she did was to start handing our dessert menus and start talking about dessert while I was still eating my ribs. I asked her to wait and she apologized. In my mind this is a major service faux paux that really stood out from the otherwise good service.

Overall my ratings are (on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best):

Beef ribs: 8
Spareribs: 6
BBQ beans: 8
Spicy Thai Calamari salad: 6
Cole slaw: 1
Fried Mac and Cheese: 2
BBQ sauce: 5

Service: 7

Ambiance: 7
