I think there was some talk a while back about the Red Velvet Cake in a recent issue of Bon Appetit, but I couldn't find the thread.
I want to make this cake for a friend's birthday party tomorrow, but reading the reviews on Epicurious, people were a little disappointed with the cake being too dry and were modifying the recipe by adding more oil. I worry that if I tinker with the recipe that I'll ruin it.
So I thought I'd check with the 'Hounds, whose opinions I trust more. Has anyone made this cake, or do you have a recommendation on a better red velvet recipe? The Bon Appetit recipe frosts the cake with cream cheese icing and tops it with blueberries and raspberries, which is gorgeous.
