Bombay Bite and other Westwood musings

Up market restaurant on Gayley - nice ambiance, comfy chairs and warm service. Food weren't bad either - lunches $6.99 to $8.99 - we had chicken tikka and eggplant bharta (tasty). Northern Indian food with a couple of off beat offerings - Veg and chicken frankies (wraps like Bombay Cafe does).
1051 Gayley,
LA 90024 310-824-1046

Orchid Bakery - new on the west side of Westwood, two blocks south of SM. Pretty good French baguette but cakes look out of sight and they are open late at night.

American Burger on Westwood and Ohio is no more - Coffee Bean and Tealeaf is moving in. No more motor cycle gatherings on Monday nights I guess.

Shamshiri Grill, 1712 Westwood
Had a great ribeye steak there last night $14.95 served with salad, broiled vegetables (peppers, onions, whole tomato) rice or herb fries (skipped those for large salad). VERY good meat, mine arrived medium rare - the other person in our party who ordered it Med.rare wasn't so lucky - his was medium.
Very nice service, warm in fact. Good buzz in the room, a lot of food for $25 plus tip per person.
