Bocce Cafe and Maykadeh (italian and Persian)- Any good?

Stanley Stephan | Sep 21, 2002 03:07 AM

I was checking Ideale out in North Beach to see if it was crowded (it was). My eye caught by the brightly lighted Maykadeh and Bocce Cafe which are next door to each other on Green Street.

Has anyone eaten either place? I stopped by Bocce Cafe this afternoon as they have a huge outdoor patio. It was too hot and the place was almost empty at noon, so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else has tried it. If it's good, what to order, what to avoid?

The style of the restaurant is a little unique. City search calls it "faux-stucco". It gave me pause when I entered. The citysearch overall rating was 6.7.

How about Maykadeh? This Persian restaurant seemed to have some pretty good reviews and the citysearch rating is 8.8.

Here are links to both of the restaurant web sites. Really, the pictures or virtual tour don't do Bocce Cafe justice.
