Blueberry preservation tip

At least two weeks ago I bought two packages of fresh Chilean blueberries, but for one reason or another, I didn't get around to using them until yesterday. I was sure that they were going to be all mushy, so it was a pleasant surprise to discover that every single one of them was firm and fresh. Maybe I just got lucky and got an incredibly long-lasting bunch of berries. But I think that the reason they stayed good for so long may have something to do with how I had inadvertently placed them in the refrigerator atop a large box of eggs. The egg carton had lots of cut-outs, providing extra air circulation for the berries, above. For what it's worth, I thought I'd share this observation. Oh, and they made a terrific pie.
