Blue Ridge Parkway...Any recs for good casual dining?

Penelope | May 29, 2003 05:24 PM

We're going to be traveling down the Blue Ridge Parkway from the beginning (Skyline Drive) to the end (Smoky Mt. Nat'l Park). Does anyone have any suggestions for good, casual dining along the way? The last time we did this trip, we suffered through a lot of canned/frozen veggies and beige food (e.g. chicken fried steak with hush puppies.) This time, we're hoping to be led to the real deal...and some fresh greens too if possible. Some of our stopovers are in Massanutten (McGaheysville, Va.), Roanoke, Boone, Asheville and Gatlinburg/Pigeon Fork, but anything proximate to the parkway would be great. Thanks, Hounds!
