Blue Jay's
Divisadero St.

Having been open 3 weeks, they have progressed nicely, still not yet ready for prime time but markedly improved.

Blue Jay's is a southern comfort restaurant/cafe. I had fried chicken - serving size was a wing and thigh, bicuit (choice of cornbread too), collard greens (or any of about 6 sides) for I think under $10?. Chix was very encrusted, like a thick shell of browned flakes & spices it was just a little too greasy, but tasted great and was moist and juicy. Biscuit was perfect and greens were great paired with the candied sweet potatoes. Others had catfish, sausage, beans & rice and shrimp beans & rice. Catfish tasted fine (although to me it often tastes muddy and in this case as well). You can still bring in alcohol as they are awaiting their license- the corner store has a pretty good selection.
We were surprised they close so early 10pm on a Sat . night. The music is still good and the vibe nice. Good value-
