I'm going out to dinner with my mother (chirstmas gift!) and I'm trying to decide where to go. My initial thought was Black Sheep Bistro in Vergennes, which I've been meaning to check out for some time. I'm also considering Starry Night Cafe in Ferrisburg, Smokejacks in downtown Burlington, and the Kitchen Table Bistro in Richmond.
Does anyone have a favorite out of these? Info on their winelists? Any outstanding "must-haves" from their menus?
I'm also open to other recommendations. I'm willing to go as far south as Vergennes and as far east as Montpelier, anywhere in northwestern or central VT, really. Looking for something relatively small, classy-casual, serving excellent creative dishes. I'm especially looking for a place with a good selection of small plates and a nice wine list (doesn't need to be long, just affordable and high-quality).
