Our local winery has a covered outdoor deck overlooking a small vinyard, and you can purchase bottles of their wines and several different cheeses, etc. and bring your own bread or order from the Lebanese Q place next door. this is all out in the country and hopefully will survive long enough to become a common practice in our lives.
one of the cheeses we bought last night was "Black Monk". it was in a thick black wax with, yes, a Monk on the label. It was excellent, like a very aged white unpasteurized English cheddar. We'd never heard of it.
Is a common cheese elsewhere in the country?
