Tried the relatively new Orgamdo (on La Brea, just south of Wilshire). It is a Korean-owned place that
serves a menu that is 2/3 Chinese with a long back page of Korean dishes (no BBQ). I must mention the décor: beautiful, large restaurant filled with the antiques of the previous tenant. A tier below Lowenbrau Keller, but designed to the hilt nonetheless. They were playing opera and classic movie themes like Moon River at full blast and the scene was totally surreal. Bypassing some of the more, um, specialized dishes, like chicken anus stir fry we asked for a recommendation. Waiter said he only eats hamburgers. Fine, we risk it. We came for Chinese, so we ordered a beef stir fry with asparagus (delicious) and a shrimp with veggies (bland, but intentionally so) Waiter told us to try the Korean salad, which was unbelievably good. Actually had a decent meal. Place was empty, save for a group of Asian businessmen chugging Bordeaux and eating (not on menu) steaks. This place got written up in the Times lately for having buzzers to call the waitstaff. We had to use them, frequently. Overall, worth checking out if only to see the space. The back, outside area where you park looks like something out of Knotts Berry Farm .$58 for 2 dishes, the salad (which was $2) and 3 glasses of wine.
