Well, I'm about to head to the airport now after having spent a nice few days in town (timed well with the World Series too).
Had some very nice pupusas at Rinconcito Hispano in Des Plaines (1669 Oakton St). I tried the chicarron/cheese, straight cheese, and loroco stuffed ones. Loroco, which I had not had before, is what the dude at the restaurant described as being similar to zucchini flower but not really. It tasted slightly asparagus-ish IMO. Good pupusas though, served with the curtido (coleslaw) and a hot sauce and mild sauce (don't get the mild). Mediocre horchata.
Grabbed a kefta kabob from Pita Inn in Des Plaines also. Very cheap ($2.75) and very good. Pretty good piece of baklava too, just too big for me to finish.
Will Special at Riviera, which I had had on my last visit as well. Quite possibly my favourite sandwich ever.
I usually try to make one trip to Devon each time I'm in town, so this time I stopped into Daata Durbar upon seeing a sign for offerings of haleem. Very good haleem. Just be sure to ask for the requisite fixins if they don't bring it out by default. Their chai was also proper; excellent & piping hot.
Also had some bad sushi and worse hotel dining, but the above eats more than made up for it. I hope to be back soon.
Thanks to all
